Halfway Through 2022: Seventy-Five Percent Preliminary School Bond Passage Rate to Date

So far this year, SchoolBondFinder has tracked 1,067 bonds and other school capital improvement opportunities for decision between January 1 and June 30, 2022. Of these, 799 have passed (75%), and 238 have failed (22%). The remaining 30 issues remain outstanding. These items are yet to be voted upon in the next week, or are currently too close to call. A handful are still watch-listed and will likely be rolled over into our calculations for the second half of the year. These numbers closely track our estimated 77% pass rate for 2022. New York State Leads Strong May 17th School Bond Elections, for a 85% Preliminary Nationwide Passage Rate.

92 School Bond and Capital Improvement elections were held on May 17th. Over $4 Billion in funding was at stake, with over 75% being in New York State alone. Overall, our preliminary figures show that 85% of these initiatives were approved. While New York State school districts fared very well, the largest single issue to pass was in North Carolina, where the Guilford County Schools passed a $1.7 Billion initiative. Billion Dollar Opportunities: Texas Districts Lead Preliminary May School Bond Election Results

As of May 9, 2022, SchoolBondFinder has tallied 277 preliminary bond election results for the month. These elections total over $19 billion in capital improvement opportunities. Currently, 150 efforts have passed (54%), 120 have failed (43%), and 7 remain outstanding (3%). However, the passing issues so far represent 62% of the total available dollars. The top five passing issues in Texas alone represent $4.4 billion in funding. April 5th Bond Elections Result in Strong 82% Passage Rate

On April 5 there were 131 school bond elections held, of which 82% passed. The vast majority were held in three states: Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. A smaller number were held in other states. Fifty one school bond decisions were held in Missouri, of which forty eight passed, resulting in a very strong 94% passing percentage for the state. Oklahoma and Wisconsin followed with 63% and 78% passing percentages, respectively. An additional nine decisions were made in individual states, including Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, New York, and Rhode Island. Impressively, all nine of these issues passed (100%). $2.6 Billion at Stake in April 5th School Bond Elections

On April 5, 2022, there will be 99 school bond elections, with a little over $2.6 Billion in capital funding at stake. The bulk of these school bond elections are being held in Michigan, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. One of the largest and most interesting elections, however, is a $215 million vote in Rhode Island, where the Johnston school district in Providence County is seeking to pass an issue that, if approved, includes a sizable state contribution.
